Would you look at that. Seems I'm the highly paranoid, antisocial, and narcissistic version of you.

ooc: I couldn't resist.
ext_1017983: (Default)

sorry, wrong muse

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
And...you are?

[ooc: wow...took the mun forever to figure out who you were and now they are tickled pink. your actor is James Spader too, isn't it?]
alan_shore: (alan is a dork (__tarawilson))

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-03-29 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Forgive me. My name is Alan Shore, and please don't be alarmed by my purported antisocial tendencies--I'm not nearly charming enough to be a sociopath.

ooc: Hahahahah, yup! And like most Spaders--Daniel being an exception, of course--he's kind of a jackass, so I apologize in advance for his behavior.

*shakes his hand, a bit confused* The face is familiar...you ever attend any lectures on the 4th Egyptian dynasty?

ooc: no worries, he can't be any worse than Ra :)
alan_shore: (chipper)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-03-29 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* No, I can't say I have.

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm...figures. I shouldn't be surprised...I had a lot of walkouts. *takes in his suit* Businessman then?

*frown* You're not with the IOA, are you?
alan_shore: (off-kilter)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-03-30 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Lawyer, actually. You might've seen me on the news, refusing to comment.

I don't even know what "IOA" stands for.

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
*adjusts his glasses as he shakes his head* No, but then I don't watch much tv. Usually holed up in my office for the most part.

Mostly they stand for a big pain in the neck. Always hovering...wanting to know if we're doing things "right".
alan_shore: (born dubious)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-03-31 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
You're...an academic of some sort, I take it?

You're half right, at any rate. I am widely regarded as a big pain in the neck.
ext_1017983: (Default)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ph.D.'s in linguistics, archeology, translation - mostly dead languages such as ancient egyptian and hieroglyphs. Also includes being shot at and getting into trouble.

*smirks* You actually realize you're a pain in the neck? Most people that are don't know it.
alan_shore: (matters of grave importance)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-03-31 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's quite the impressive CV. Can you write in cuneiform?

*mirrors the smirk* It's rather a point of pride for me.
ext_1017983: (Default)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. *runs off a line of cuneiform on a chalkboard nearby* One of my instructors used this line quite a bit. It means "pay attention or die".

Must be a lawyer thing...*achoo!* Sorry, allergies...*blows his nose on a red and white handkerchief*
alan_shore: (slackjawed)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-04-01 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
*snorts; he's impressed, although the casual observer might mistake it for amusement* Would you look at that. Do you ever use it to scribble notes to your colleagues?

Bless you.
ext_1017983: (mission daniel)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-04-01 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt they would appreciate that. Most of my colleagues are military. Carter's more the scientist but I doubt I would have anything to write in a note that couldn't be emailed. *looks down at his own jumbled mess of notes* Although it does come in handy if you don't want someone reading your notes. Sometimes I forget what language I'm writing in if I'm distracted enough.

Thank you.

So how did you become a lawyer?
alan_shore: (pleased as punch)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-04-03 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
What language do you think in?

Oh, the usual method: I attended law school, graduated, passed the bar. And now here I am, more or less.
ext_1017983: (exposition)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-04-03 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
*pauses*...Y'know, I've never thought about it. I guess that also varies, depending on how distracted I am.

Oh no, what I meant was, did you always want to be a lawyer? Or was it something you happened to get into? Or what?
alan_shore: (look up)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-04-04 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a friend who claimed her thoughts were more elegant in French and less inhibited in Italian. I don't know if there's any truth to that, mind you, but it certainly sounded good.

What child wants to grow up to be a lawyer? No, I'd an inkling I'd be good at it and my parents disapproved, which was always an encouraging sign.
ext_1017983: (Default)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-04-04 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
*shrugs* I wouldn't know, my own thoughts are usually just a mix and would only make sense to me. I think I was up to 26 languages at last count...

That's true. Do your parents still disappove since you became one?
alan_shore: (off-kilter)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-04-04 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* You've lost track. That's...humbling.

They're both dead now, although knowing my father he hasn't permitted something as trifling as his departure from this earthly plane to interfere with the scorn he harbors for my chosen profession.
ext_1017983: (exposition)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
*waves it off as no big deal* They say the first two are the hardest. Probably because you can get them mixed up the easiest.

Foster parents for me...not sure how they feel about my profession, I haven't seen them in awhile. and the mun can't remember if they are dead too or not My family tends more towards my coworkers now really.
alan_shore: (born dubious)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-04-05 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah? I doubt I could name twenty-six languages.

I suppose we're alike in that respect.
ext_1017983: (Default)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
*smile* Care to learn a word of a language very few people know?
Kree is a good word to know from Goa'uld language. Means alot of things, but loosely translated it means "attention", "listen up", "concentrate" ...or if you like, "Yoo-hoo".
alan_shore: (Default)

[personal profile] alan_shore 2009-04-05 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
And once I've attracted their attention, what am I supposed to say?
ext_1017983: (torch investigation)

[identity profile] stargatejackson.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
*hadn't thought of that* Oh um...I suppose you could follow it with "kel sha" if you wanted to say hello or greetings...or "tal'mac Alan Shore"...
I usually have to follow it with "kree'ta" myself...to get someone to quit messing with something they're not supposed to.
