Not what it seems

"Well that discovery was a fraud..." Daniel was saying, scribbling away on the chalkboard behind him as the crowd gasped and murmured to itself in the lecture hall. "And you have proof of this?" one of the men asked with his hand slightly raised. Daniel turned to answer but another asked a question before he could. "Well, who do you think built the pyramids?"
Daniel paused, knowing the answer wasn't going to make anyone happy...in fact, he already knew what was going to happen. That was weird....had he done this already? Maybe he was just getting used to the rejection. "I don't know who built them..." he started. "But that's not the point, the point being that they WERE built in the first place."
That was odd.
They were all still there. And still listening. Why weren't they all walking out? Everyone always walked out when he got to this part.
"Um...right so...they were built and..." Daniel was blanking here, what came next? He shuffled his notes, a bit flustered. Were some of his notes missing? Something was just off. He looked around the room and found another hand up. "Yes?"
"What about the discovery on the Giza plateau? Was that significant to the fourth dynasty too?" The speaker was a young female, probably a reporter of some kind from her pantsuit. "I'm sorry, you're going to have to be more specific?" Daniel told her.
"The Stargate."
What...how could she....Daniel took a step back from the podium. "How do you account for it's being buried in the sand and sealed in? Is it dangerous?" the reporter continued with a questioning tone in her voice.
Stargate? Daniel remembered, yes, Stargate Command...why was he here? He'd already been here. This was before...
"Dr. Jackson, what is your answer?"
"Danyiel?"
He turned to see Sha'uri seated off to the side of the stage in a metal folding chair. She looked concerned. "..s..sha'uri?" Daniel said, very confused. He walked over, forgetting the lecture entirely. "What are you...what am I doing here?"
She leaned in to whisper. "Just answer her question and we can leave afterwards, Danyiel."
Daniel looked from her to the crowd that was way too eager to hear what he had to say and the one reporter who was still trying to get his attention. "This is...just wrong..." he said. He got up to the podium where the mic was. "I'm sorry, I'll have to continue this another time, it's just...this just isn't right..."
There was this sick feeling in the pit of his stomach that he'd been trying to ignore. It flared up with a wave of pain and nausea that hit him all at once and he doubled over, kneeling down onto the stage next to the podium. His head was starting to hurt as well.
Nobody was moving from their seats, they were still all sitting there, looking interested. Daniel couldn't understand it. "What's wrong with everyone?" he said aloud. Sha'uri was coming over and bent down over him. "Sha'uri...they're all just sitting there."
"Answer her question, Danyiel." she urged him. "What about the Stargate?" There was this cold feeling starting to come over him too and Daniel shivered from his position on the floor, trying to ignore the splitting headache. "And you...you're speaking English...too well..."
Daniel called out in pain as the connection was finally broken as the hands let him go and he slumped down to the floor and lay there for a minute, trying to catch his breath. His whole body felt like it had been through an ordeal, he felt cold and weak all over. His head hurt but there was no direct pressure like there had been before. Like he had been fighting something. He managed to get his eyes open and froze as he saw something in the dark. It was a face, a very pale white face of a woman. She was standing very still over him, looking at him quietly. Her eyes were very blue, almost a transparent blue. Daniel could sense rather than see that there were more figures in the room in the shadows. He got the feeling they didn't want to be seen. Daniel managed to get to a crawling position and found himself too drained to stand. He leaned against a nearby wall, looking up at the woman. "What...was that?" he asked finally when she wouldn't say anything. She inclined her head with a slight look of curiousity on her almost expressionless face. But she said nothing. "What do you want?" Daniel looked around the room, starting to make out the other figures as being others of the same race of people as she was. They were all standing where they were, looking at him from their shadowy places. "You all must want something or I wouldn't be here, right? That's why you took me from my team, yes?" Daniel could remember now, they'd been camping in the woods away from the village and he must have been taken while they were sleeping. But the villagers were Jaffa, they weren't...whoever these people were. There had been tales of ghosts in the forest, but of course nobody believed those stories. Especially not Colonel O'Neill.
"Look, we came on a peaceful mission. We didn't come to hurt anyone...won't somebody say something?" Daniel pleaded specifically with the woman in front of him. She seemed to be listening but just not responding. Daniel shivered again, wondering how he was going to get out of this one.
One of the figures, a man, took a step towards the woman and Daniel saw her look over her shoulder slightly. There was something going on, but Daniel felt out of the loop. After a second or two, the woman gave Daniel her attention again. Two of the figures came out of nowhere and grabbed his arms, one on each side. Daniel tried to resist but he was very skillfully put into a sitting position in a chair someone had brought in unnoticed. The two men held him there, they didn't seem to be hurting him but they were very firm with their grip. He couldn't move away even if he wanted to as the woman moved in on him. "Please, just tell me what you want..." Daniel tried to begin. He was cut off as the woman reached out and put cold fingers on each side of his head...
